Lighting the flame
Pizzeria Defina introduced authentic Napoletana-style pizza to the heart of Roncesvalles Village. To master the art of wood-fired pizza, we collaborated with two renowned Italian pizza experts—Chef Roberto Caporuscio from New York City and Tony Gemignani from San Francisco.

Recognition
At the 2013 International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, we won Best Traditional Pizza in the International Division with our “Pizza Expo Winner.” By 2016, we took home Best Non-Traditional Pizza in the International Region and earned accolades for our Sicilian Style in the Pan Division. In 2017, we competed at the Caputo Cup in New York City. Further acclaim came in 2018 and 2019 when Defina received its first ‘Slice’ from Gambero Rosso, the esteemed Italian authority on restaurants, food and wine.

Over the years, we’ve perfected our wood-fired pizza signature crusts: Napoletana and Gluten-Free. Our fresh toppings celebrate the rich culture and history of Toronto and Roncesvalles Village. This fusion of tradition and innovation has earned us features on You Gotta Eat Here!, mentions in The New York Times, Now Magazine, and Toronto Life, as well as Platinum Awards from Parkdale Reader’s Choice for Best Local Pizza. We take pride in connecting with our community through authentic food, private events, and neighborhood activities.

Stretching further
We opened our second location, Defina Wood Fired, in the Junction Triangle, where we continue to serve our signature Napoletana pizza and now feature an authentic Wood Fired Grill. At both Pizzeria Defina locations, our Defina Family is dedicated to providing warm, genuine service. We take pride in connecting with our community, giving back, and making everyone feel at home.
